4月19日 Broadway Celtic - Match Round-UpSunday 9th April
Home Game. Vale Farm
Woodbridge 0 - 2 Broadway Celtic
For the third week running, Woodbridge were able to field a strong side with a good bench to boot. This is one of the games that Woodbridge always look forward to, not that we ever win, but because we always play well and enjoy ourselves.
The game started at a good pace, seeing two of Broadways players booked almost straight away and not because of any tackles (Quiney cant help chatting to refs in his loud voice). Unfortuantely for us, he ended up a little fired up and due to slow reactions in the defence, he was able to stroll through and slot the ball into our net. This was especially harsh as only minutes before, our Jason had managed to beat Broadways offside trap only for his shot to be fingertipped onto the crossbar by an outstanding save from their keeper.
The score line remained 1 nil to Broadway for most of the game which saw both sides miss gilt edged chances. William in our goal was having another great game, and whilst not called into action often, was always ready when required.
5 minutes from time with Woodbridge gaining momentum, we were hit with a sucker blow as a delfection of a defender found itself at the feet of Broadways substitute striker who calmly slotted the ball in for 2 nil.
This was a great game that could of gone either way
4月13日 John Lewis - Match Round-upSunday 2nd April
Home Game. Vale Farm
Woodbridge 3 - 3 John Lewis
3 nil down just before halftime and things looked dire for Woodbridge, who had up to this point had hit a bit of form. But with Woodbridges new found grit a goal was found just before the whistle.
Second half found our winger charge down the left but with no one supporting a speculative shot flew in over the keeper from near 30 yards. As the teams prepared to kick-off, to our amazment the referee asked why a goal kick wasnt being taken. Some how his position in the centre of the pitch didnt allow him a clear view of the goal (its like standing in the middle lane of the M25 at rush hour and not seeing any cars doh!) In all seriousness, it was a spectactualr goal that he had no right to score, and if I was refereeing the game I would have found it had to believe that it went in.
So still 3-1 down, but now fired up, Woodbridge went into overdrive and managed to score two quick goals. Unfortuantely we were unable to find another goal and to our dismay, somehow managed to draw a game in which we out scored our opponents.
MOM - Darren. Manager for the day
Highgate Albion - Match Round-upSunday 19th March
Home Game. Vale Farm
Woodbide 3 - 1 Highgate Albion
Probably the shock of the season as full strength Woodbridge side tore through a strong Highgate team to record their first win of the season.
Last weeks goal hero Jason added to his tally with a well taken goal and then set up our new left winger for an easy tap-in.
Our goal shy team has now hit 6 goals in 2 games, but most noticable was how little work our goalkeeper had to do with the defence looking solid and the whole team working as a unit.
MOM - goes to the whole team for a job well done
Dalys - Match Round-upSunday 12th March
Away Game. Northwick Park
Dalys 8 - 3 Woodbridge
Dont be fooled by the scoreline as this game was a lot closer than it sounds. The game also saw the keeper debut of William, who had been playing on our left wing for most of the season.
This game also had the debut of 3 new players that had been signed earlier in the season but unable to play until now.
MOM - William in goal / Jason up front who scored on his debut N.L.O - Match Round-upSunday 5th March
Home Game. Vale Farm
Woodbridge 0 - 7 North London
MOM - Doug Strong. For keeping the swearing down to a minimum. 2月21日 John Lewis - Match Round-upCongrats to team for going their second week without defeat, and a kick up the ass for the league who once again failed to have a referee available for game.
Obviously we didn't play again.....but then it was raining...a bit.
As for the lack of a referee (this is the fifth time this season) you could say the league were doing sweet F.A (hope you enjoyed that play on words as much as I did) 2月15日 Broadway Celtic - Match Round-upDoh! game was called of due to (apparent) bad weather, even though three other games were already playing on the pitches next to us?
Which is a pity as it was probably are best turn out of players this season.
On a plus note we didn't lose. 2月8日 Hanwell Celtic Match Report - AwayWoodbridge Formation 4-5-1

This match was due to kick off at 11.00am Sunday morning, but Hanwell asked if they could re-schedule the game for a 12.30 start due to another team playing on their pitch. We kindly accepted the bribe of free sarnies after the game, and agreed to their terms.
Unfortunately the early game overran by an hour due to the referee not playing 30mins each half as agreed, but the full game. This did not sit well when we were then informed that he would also be the ref for our game, and that he had close ties to Hanwell! But being a team who often face a dilemma or two (plus we’d already been sitting around for the best part of 2 hours) we agreed to play the game.
1.30pm Kick-off…..finally Somehow, even after a one hour delay we managed to start with only 10 players, and without pointing anyone out -ELLIOT PORTIFIELD- (technically bold writing isn’t pointing…you need a finger for that) managed to slot himself into the right midfield spot.
Today marked the debut of our new keeper Tom *cough* who soon found out that life in the Woodbridge goal is never boring. Now he had some pretty big shoes to fill as the keeper of our previous 2 games only conceded 19 goals (yeah it was me, hence no match reports…I blame the defence). Tom acquitted himself well and was soon showing both teams how good a shot stopper he was. He also showed us how bad at goal kicks he was, as this duty fell to the centre backs. However as the game went on Toms confidence grew, and the next goal kick he took sailed over our heads and into the oppositions half (que gasps from all the outfield players who had never witnessed such a feat before!!!)
Half time and the score remained 0-0 with both teams carving out chances but failing to capitalise. As the game went on tempers began to fray and it wasn’t long before challenges became a little shall we say enthusiastic. Horror struck in the 70 minute when a shot was spilt by are keeper, and with the defence a little slow to react we found ourselves one nil down, and with a player hobbling of the pitch. Mark Reeves was replaced with Woodbridge veteran John Bullock who was soon stuck in, making many great challenges and interceptions.
Chances for Woodbridge went begging with Lewis unable to keep his footing, and several great saves from the oppositions keeper. In the 85min any chance for a revival was ended when a speculative high shot took a nasty bounce and looped over our poor stranded keeper.
Tempers frayed again when a poor challenge on Kevin Abbott saw him react badly (hand bags at dawn stylee) which saw both teams squaring up to each other. However the referee saw sense and a more or less well tempered game ended without either team receiving a card.
Final Score 0-2 to Hanwell Celtic, but the best performance from Woodbridge this season.
Man of the Match - Michael Reeney for a superb game at right back.

Last year a lot of our players attended and had a great night (AND I MEAN A GREAT NIGHT).
It would be good to get as many if not more of players down to that night this year to build up more team spirit so please please make every effort to attend because you will only get out of a club what you put in.
Apparently the girls in the picture are going to be there and are setting off now.
Let Doug know a.s.a.p if you require a ticket as he needs to order them soon. Fixture ListSunday 12th February 2006 - Mulston Cup
